We are pleased to be producing Shakespeare's Macbeth at the Indy Bard Fest in October. Dr. Kathy Phipps will be the Director, Darby Kear will be the Assistant Director, and Joel Flynn will do the Choreography for the Witches.
We'll be able to share this extraordinary cast with you soon, once all the casting for Bard Fest shows are announced!
All Actors must complete the audition information form.
We will have an All-Cast Read Thru on the afternoon of Saturday, June 26 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. at the Cross Church (45040 Madison Ave. Indianapolis 46227).
Beginning in August, we will rehearse Friday evenings and on Saturday afternoons from 12:00 - 4:00 pm in August (beginning the 6th and 7th), September, and October. Location TBA
Performers cast in the show ages 18 and younger will pay a $150 participation fee to help cover scenery, costumes, and the numerous expenses of the production. The fee can be made in two installments. Partial Scholarships are available for families in need. Performers who are 19 - 26 will each secure a $150 sponsorship from a business to help defray show costs or they will pay the $150 participation fee.
Also, all performers ages 21 and older will be required to do a background check and the on-line training, Safe and Sacred, that educates about healthy communication and detecting abuse.
We require that one parent of the cast member volunteers 10-15 hours on a show committee (scenery, costumes, props, publicity, etc.). Parents will also need to attend two mandatory informational meetings and be available to help during Tech Week.
Both parents of each cast member will be required to do a background check. There is no cost for the background check.
Will be October 21 - 24 and 28 - 30, 2021 at the Theater at the Fort in Lawrence. We will Load In on October 17 and Tech Week rehearsals will be the the evenings of October 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21.
The roles of Macbeth will be played by Nathan Ellenberger and Aidan Morris.
The roles of Lady Macbeth will be played by Haley Glickman and Brynn Hensley.
Director Dr. Kathy Phipps was inspired to cast the leading roles in rotation after seeing the National Theater of Great Britain's production of Frankenstein online, where one night Benedict Cumberbatch played Dr. Frankenstein and Johnny Lee Miller played the "monster" and the next night they switched roles.
Aidan Morris and Haley Glickman will play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth opposite Nathan Ellenberger's MacDuff and Brynn Hensley's Hecate (Queen of the Witches), then the next performance they will rotate roles. We are only able to do the production this way because of the extraordinary amount of talent in the actors who auditioned. Our theater company won the Best Youth Performance in Indianapolis in 2017 for "Les Misérables" and in 2019 for our production of "The Tempest" at Bard Fest.
