Join us for our holiday production of the musical Annie! Based on the poem by Indiana author James Whitcomb Riley, and the subsequent comic strip, Annie tells a classical tale of hope for tomorrow. We hope you join us- no sooner than tomorrow!
Rehearsals will begin the week of August 25th.
Rehearsals for Youth and Ensemble will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:00. Leads will also rehearse on Wednesday evenings. Mandatory Dress Rehearsals are December 1, 2, and 3 at the Theater at the Fort, in Lawrence. Need to fill out your paperwork? Click the link below.
Performances are at the Theater at the Fort December 4 - 7. Stay tuned for the ticket link!
Performers under age 18 who are cast will pay $200 tuition to cover 60+ hours of instruction, and techincal needs. The fee must be paid before our first rehearsal on August 26 (unless arrangements have been made in advance to pay in installments at info@agapetheatercompany.com)
No performer who is cast in the show will be turned away because of their inability to pay tuition. Agape works with performers to gain the scholarship aid necessary for them to participate.
Participants over 18 do not have to pay tuition, but are encouraged to help find show sponsors.
Parents will need to attend two mandatory informational meetings, serve on a committee to help with scenery, costumes, props, or publicity, and everyone must be available to help during Tech Week.
All staff, performers ages 18+ and parent volunteers who work directly with minors will need to do a background check (a fee of $9.99) to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
We are excited to announce April Barnes as our director for Annie! She previously co-directed "Westside Story" alongside Dr. Kathy Phipps and has co-wrote and directed her own productions, "Harlem Renaissance; An Ode to the Cotton Club" and "Mary's Journal I and II." She was also the musical director for "Newsies," "The Sound of Music," "Pirates of Penzance" and "The Christmas Story."
She is the Director of the Music and Arts Ministries at New Zion Community Church, Co-Director of Beloved Community Co-op Homeschool Program, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc and the mother of three awesome young men, Eric, Joshua and Jonas.
